WorkandJam was founded in 2012 as a small, self-funded community project in Portland, Jamaica — born from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a fair, accessible, and truly Jamaican digital platform where local talents, services, and businesses could be seen and supported.
WorkandJam is more than a directory — it’s a flexible platform that helps Jamaican businesses grow, connect, and stand out.
Beyond listings, it offers sections with useful news and videos, and customizable features like booking forms for hotels and villas, and optional coupons or promotions for vendors.
A new backend system is also in development, allowing users to manage their own pages easily and keep content fresh.
Over the years, what started as a local initiative has grown into a trusted space for connection, visibility, and opportunity across the island.
Today, WorkandJam hosts nearly 10,000 listings — from professionals, artisans, and small businesses to hotels, restaurants, and government agencies.
As our community grew, so did our responsibility. Maintaining and improving the platform involves real costs, which we partially cover through sponsors and business subscriptions. Still, our free standard listing remains rich with features — giving every entrepreneur the opportunity to present their business clearly and professionally.
With 250,000 visitors and 1.4 million user interactions so far this year, WorkandJam.com is one of Jamaica’s most active online business directory.
