JaRIA is a non-profit umbrella organization established in 2009 that represents stakeholders across Jamaica’s reggae and wider entertainment sectors. It focuses on advocacy, capacity building, and creating platforms for artists, producers, promoters and other industry professionals to collaborate and grow.
Major initiatives include the annual Reggae Month festival series, the Honour Awards (recognizing industry contributions), monthly “JaRIA JaMz” showcases which integrate music, spoken word, visual art and networking, and the Reggae Wednesdays (concerts during February). JaRIA also supports education & training, provides membership benefits like support with permits, tools of trade, and lobbies for sector policy improvements.
