The Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation (MEGJC) is a pivotal government agency in Jamaica, established in 2016, responsible for steering the nation's economic development. The ministry oversees critical sectors including land, environment, climate change, investment, water and wastewater, housing, and works.
With a mandate to formulate and implement policies, MEGJC plays a central role in coordinating efforts across various agencies to ensure sustainable growth and job creation. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Andrew Holness, supported by ministers without portfolio Hon. Karl Samuda and Hon. Daryl Vaz, the ministry has been instrumental in driving initiatives such as the New Social Housing Programme and the National Tree Planting Initiative.
The executive management team, led by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Audrey Sewell, ensures the effective execution of the ministry's policies and programs.
