Founded and run by poet–educator Kirk Scarlett, I‑Nation Books is a mobile book enterprise dedicated to promoting Pan‑African and Caribbean literature. Operating across Kingston, the bookstall offers a diverse selection—from history and spirituality to culture and poetry—catering to schools, markets, and cultural events. Scarlett, also known as the “streets’ minister of education,” has been delivering books directly to communities for over a decade. His endeavors include spoken-word poetry, with self-published works like the “Scrolls” series. He is currently planning a permanent physical bookstore to further his mission.
I‑Nation sells and donates books, participates in literacy programs (e.g., reading initiatives at Devon House), and champions intellectual empowerment. The brand fosters social impact by engaging youths and challenging literacy gaps through literature and creativity. This grassroots operation blends commerce and community development—cultivating intellectual curiosity and cultural pride across Jamaican neighborhoods.
