The Jamaican Copyright Licensing Agency (JAMCOPY) is a non-profit collective management organization established in 1998 to administer the reproduction rights of creators and publishers of text and image-based works in Jamaica. Officially recognized by the Government of Jamaica in 1999 as the national Reproduction Rights Organisation (RRO), JAMCOPY provides a centralized and affordable mechanism for users to legally reproduce extracts of copyright-protected materials, including books, periodicals, and journals.
JAMCOPY's licensing solutions cater to various sectors, including educational institutions, government agencies, and businesses, facilitating compliance with copyright laws and ensuring that creators receive fair compensation for the use of their works. The agency also engages in public education initiatives to promote respect for intellectual property rights and to support the growth of Jamaica's creative industries.
As a member of the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations (IFRRO), JAMCOPY has established reciprocal agreements with over 24 RROs worldwide, extending protection for Jamaican works internationally and allowing local users access to a vast repertoire of global content.
Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Karene Miller, JAMCOPY continues to advocate for the rights of authors and publishers, adapting to the evolving digital landscape and reinforcing the importance of copyright in fostering creativity and cultural development
