The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) St. Elizabeth Division, headquartered at 5 Brigade Street in Black River, serves as the primary emergency response unit for the parish. With a commitment to "Saving Lives, Protecting Property," the division offers comprehensive fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical services to the local communities.

 

In February 2024, the Black River Fire Station underwent significant renovations, enhancing its capacity to serve 65 communities within the parish. The upgraded facility now boasts modern dormitories, administrative offices, and improved infrastructure, reflecting the government's dedication to bolstering emergency services.

 

Under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner Andrew M. Russell, who began his firefighting career at the Junction Fire Station in 2002, the division emphasizes proactive fire safety measures. Recent initiatives include rigorous building inspections, maintenance of critical emergency infrastructure, and community outreach programs aimed at raising fire safety awareness.

 

The St. Elizabeth Division operates additional stations in Junction and Santa Cruz, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the parish. With a focus on continuous improvement and community engagement, the JFB St. Elizabeth Division remains a cornerstone of public safety in the region.
